A high school soccer player was lured outside his Los Angeles home and shot to death shortly after a game between two San Fernando Valley schools.
Investigators say the killing of the 17-year-old Francisco Javier Rodriguez Jr. wasn’t a random act.
Witnesses say a girl knocked on the door of the teen’s Winnetka home at about 6:10 p.m. Wednesday . He was shot to death after walking outside.
No suspect information has been released and it’s not known if the killer fled on foot or in a vehicle.
Detective David Leveque tells KCAL-TV that Rodriguez was a target, but a possible motive hasn’t been disclosed.
Rodriguez was a goalie for El Camino Real High School’s soccer team. The shooting occurred an hour after a game with Taft High School.
